Sharon Patton

Psychologist and Animal-Assisted Therapist

I am a qualified psychologist with over 20 years of experience in supporting children, young people, and families through various mental health and developmental challenges. My background includes postgraduate studies in Educational and Developmental Psychology, and I have recently returned to study to complete my Master of Clinical Psychology.

I am passionate about delivering evidence-based therapy through fun and engaging methods, incorporating animal-assisted therapy and play-based techniques to create a safe space for children to explore their emotions and express themselves freely.

I also have extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults, taking a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to care. Drawing from a variety of evidence-based psychological modalities, I tailor each intervention to meet the unique needs of the individual.

I work closely with my therapy dogs, Skip and Pogo, who are integral members of our therapeutic team. together, our goal is to foster resilience, emotional growth, and meaningful change in a safe and supportive environment.

Skip

Skip

Therapy Dog, 7-Year-Old Jack Russell Mix

Skip is an energetic and gentle Jack Russell mix who brings joy to every session. With a love for agility and a soft spot for cuddles, Skip’s favourite things include running, snacking on treats, and, of course, lounging on the back of the couch in a sunny spot whenever possible. Skip has a calming effect on children, who find her playful yet soothing presence easy to connect with. She’s a loyal companion who ensures each child feels safe and valued during their time here.

Pogo

Pogo

Therapy Dog, 2-Year-Old Jack Russell Mix

The youngest member of our team, Pogo is a spirited and playful companion who loves to keep things light-hearted. Known for her enthusiastic zoomies and playful energy, Pogo brings a sense of fun and spontaneity to sessions. She enjoys splashing in puddles, playing with Skip, and, true to her name, loves to bounce! Pogo’s lively spirit can help even the shyest children open up, teaching them that therapy can be both supportive and fun.

Together, we’re dedicated to providing a warm, engaging space for children, young people, and their families to navigate their unique journeys. Whether through structured play or a cosy cuddle with Skip and Pogo, each session is designed to help children and young people feel empowered, understood, and ready to grow.
