Our Services
Individual Psychology Sessions
One-on-one sessions are designed to meet your child’s unique needs and goals. Using a mix of play, conversation, and interactive activities, these sessions help children process emotions, learn coping strategies, and build social skills. Some of the common issues we address include:
Anxiety and stress management
Behavioural difficulties
Social skills and friendship building
Emotional regulation
Self-esteem and confidence
Autism spectrum support
Grief and loss
Attention and focus challenges (ADHD)
School Readiness Support
Starting school is a big step, and we help prepare children by working on essential social, emotional, and behavioural skills. School readiness support helps children build the confidence they need for a positive school experience. We cover areas such as following instructions, interacting with peers, managing separation anxiety, and adjusting to classroom routines.
Support for Parents
We understand that parenting can come with unique challenges, and we’re here to help. Through parent support sessions, we offer strategies and guidance on various issues, from managing behavioural concerns to supporting your child’s emotional health. Our goal is to empower parents with tools to strengthen family relationships and support children’s growth.
Home Observations
Understanding a child’s behaviours and challenges within their home environment can provide valuable insights that enhance our therapeutic approach. Our home observation service allows us to observe your child in their natural setting, gaining a deeper understanding of their interactions, routines, and any behavioural challenges that may arise in the comfort of their home. This holistic approach helps us create a tailored plan that aligns with both the home and therapy environments, making strategies more effective and sustainable.
Home observations are especially beneficial for:
Addressing behavioural challenges that occur at home
Observing family dynamics and interactions
Supporting transitions in routines or major life changes
Providing parents with real-time feedback and strategies to encourage positive behaviours
This service can be a powerful tool in developing personalised strategies to help your child thrive, fostering consistency across home and therapeutic settings.
Education Observations and Collaboration
For a more comprehensive understanding of your child’s needs, we offer kinder and school observations to see how they interact and respond in their education environment. Observations allow us to work collaboratively with educators and school staff, creating a coordinated approach that supports your child’s development at kinder/school and in therapy.
Behavioural Support
Behavioural challenges can affect various aspects of a child’s life, from home to school settings. We provide targeted behavioural support for children who may be experiencing issues with routines, boundaries, or managing emotions. Our approach helps children learn positive behaviours and develop self-regulation skills, promoting a more positive experience for them and their families.
Group Therapy
Group sessions are available to help children build social skills, confidence, and emotional resilience, while engaging with peers in a supportive, fun setting. Group therapy offers a valuable opportunity for children to learn from each other, practice communication, and develop friendships. Groups may focus on specific themes such as anxiety management, social skills, or coping with changes.
Flexible Therapy Options
At Paws to Play Psychology, we understand that every child is unique. While our therapy dogs, Skip and Pogo, often enhance the therapeutic experience, we offer the option of sessions without dogs for families who prefer a different approach. This flexibility ensures that each session is tailored to suit the specific needs and comfort of your child.
